Enrolment Information

The Parramatta College aims to be a safe place where all students and staff are respected. Please report any instances of bullying or harassment to your teacher or the Principal.

Acknowledgment of Enrolment

We email or post a letter of confirmation when we receive your enrolment. This is your receipt. Please keep it as a reminder of the date and location of your course.

Student Acceptance of Risk

By enrolling you agree that you will be participating at your own risk and that the College does not accept responsibility for misadventure or loss.

Extra Costs

Fees cover teaching only. For some classes you may have to buy materials. If you need them for the first lesson they are usually listed in the brochure.

The Parramatta College is not responsible for books or materials you purchase for a course.

Concessions

Except where courses are marked No Discount; pensioners get 20% discount and Commonwealth Health Care Card & NSW Seniors Card holders get a 10% discount on courses. You must present your Pension, Health Care or Seniors card if requested. You cannot claim more than one concession for any course.

Cancellation of Courses

Classes with too few enrolments may be cancelled. Please make sure you give us a daytime, voicemail or answering machine phone number, or email address, so that we can contact you if your class is cancelled.

Refund Policy

If your course is full or cancelled you may choose a full refund or transfer to another course in the current or next term. Any difference in the cost will be adjusted by additional payment by the student or a refund of the difference by the College.

credit may be issued in the case of serious illness if you send a written request and a medical certificate.

An administration fee of $15 per course applies if a credit is approved.

We do not give refunds or transfers for any other reason.

The College cannot accept responsibility for changes in a student’s personal or work circumstances.

We reserve the right to alter any of the published arrangements, either before or during a course, or to cancel a course.

Private Companies

For Managers & Case Workers enrolling clients in English Language & Literacy courses - Due to funding restraints, The Parramatta College cannot subsidise clients from Job Network Members, Rehabilitation Organisations, Private companies or referrals from government departments as we have done so in the past. This does not mean that your clients cannot access English Language, Literacy and Numeracy courses but a fee for service will apply. Complaints

If you have a complaint about any matter relating to the College, contact the Principal on 9687 2072 or admin@parramattacollege.com.au

Students with Disabilities

If you have a disability or an illness which we need to know about to help you learn, please tell the person who takes your enrolment, the Principal or your teacher. We will do what we can to assist. If you are eligible for a Companion Card your carer or companion can enrol for no fee.

Students who need help with Reading and Writing

If you need help with reading, writing or English, please tell the person who takes your enrolment, the Principal or your teacher. We will do what we can to assist.

Privacy

Your personal details are kept in secure electronic and hard copy format.

We use your contact details when we need to contact you about your course and to inform you about upcoming courses and activities. We will provide you, on written request, with access to your own records.

We will not disclose personal information we collect from you to a third party, without your written permission, except where it is required:

  • By Law
  • ACE Services NSW and National Centre for Vocational and Education Research (NCVER) ask us to submit contact details about students so they can send out surveys. If you do not want us to submit your contact details to these agencies, please Email Us.
  • To send course information to you.
  • For other reasons allowed by the Privacy Principles, including threats to health and safety, and disclosure to relevant authorities in the case of suspected unlawful activity.

Harassment, Victimisation and Bullying

All staff members and all students at The Parramatta College have a right to be free from sexual, physical and verbal harassment and victimisation. The College will investigate and act on reports of harassment, victimisation and bullying by any staff member, student or visitor.

Please report any incidents or concerns to a Program Manager or the Principal. Because an accusation of harassment, victimisation, bullying or discrimination may be defamatory, we will ensure that privacy of personal information is maintained.

Early Bird Draw

Winners of the Early Bird Draw will receive a voucher to the value of $100 which can be used as full or part payment towards the course of your choice. No refund or credit will be given for unused portion of the credit. Vouchers expire after 2 terms.

No Children

Children are not allowed to accompany students to classes unless the design of the class specifically includes children.

Minimum Age

The minimum age for our students is 14 Yrs 9 Months, unless a course is specifically designed for children.

No Smoking

No Smoking on school grounds.

Website Security

The College uses SSL 128 bit encryption on all parts of this web site where confidential data is transmitted such as student details or credit card information. The College transmits credit card information to Westpac bank for processing via a gateway provided by SecurePay. All such data is encrypted in transmission.

Evaluation

We evaluate courses to help improve or modify them. We will ask you about:

  • What you learned
  • The skills of the trainer
  • The facilities
  • Whether you would recommend the course to others
  • Whether the office staff were helpful

We usually hand out evaluation sheets at the end of the course. You do not have to write your name on the evaluation form.

Promotion

All of our course promotion accurately reflects course content and qualifications. We do not intentionally make vague, misleading or ambiguous statements about courses, teachers, other providers, the College or any other matter which could mislead students. We publish a course guide four times a year.

Ocupational Health and Safety

Your teacher will talk to you about safety in your subject and emergency evacuation in your first lesson. The teacher will also check the room before each lesson to ensure that it is safe to use. If you have any concerns or suggestions about OHS talk to your teacher or the Principal.

Emergencies

Your trainer will talk to you about emergency evacuation procedures during the first lesson. Get to know the nearest exits. Report any hazards, injury or damage to students, premises or equipment to your teacher as soon as possible. Our centres have first aid boxes which meet Workcover requirements.

While we take care, the College does not accept responsibility for any damage or injury to any person or their property.

Evacuations

In case of fire, follow the instructions of your trainer to walk quickly to the nearest exit.

ACCREDITED COURSES

The Parramatta College is a Registered Training Organisation (No 90276). It complies with AQTF 2007 standards. You will find more information about the College and our courses on the website www.parramattacollege.com.au

Assessment

Students in accredited courses are assessed against the relevant unit(s) of competency. Your trainer will tell you more about assessment at the beginning of the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you want to get the Certificate or Statement of Attainment for one of our accredited courses and you believe you already have the skills that are taught in the course, you can apply for RPL. Usually the cost for RPL is less than the cost of attending the course. Contact the College for more information on 9687 2072 or admin@ parramattacollege.com.au

Appeals

Students who don’t agree with an assessment decision have 3 months to appeal. Contact the College on 96872072 for more information.

Mutual recognition

The Parramatta College recognises all qualifications issued by other Registered Training Organisations.

Record Keeping

We keep records of student attendance and achievement in accredited courses. If you or someone else wants to see your records or discuss your participation, you must give permission in writing.
