Certificate III in Children Services

This nationally accredited course (CHC30402), which is a prerequisite for the Diploma, is designed for people who either work or want to pursue a career in the industry. This course provides you with the theoretical background in working with children 0–6 years in a long day care, preschool, occasional care and family day care children’s service. You will be assessed during practical work as well as theory-based assignments. Attendance 2 days per week (Mondays, Tuesdays,) for theory at College with practical component to be completed on the job or arranged by the tutor if you are not already working in the industry. The course delivers 15 units of competency (including First Aid course) over 13 weeks (12 hours per week) plus 2 days practical (16 hours per week) with a final block practum of 1 week in a childcare facility and runs from May until July. This course will enhance your skills in providing care to children and developing their play. Students will be screened with Working with Children Check for criminal offences relating to children. Pre-requisites: Participants must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. This certificate course may be FREE to eligible people who are under 25 or over 45 years of age. Age restrictions do not apply to disabled or indigenous people. All applicants must provide proof of age and be a permanent Australian resident or citizen. Qualifications will be issued by Macarthur Community College. National provider number 6860.
