Corona virus update

Corona virus update

We wish to advise you that we are still open for enrolment, classes are still going ahead as scheduled (provided enrolment numbers are appropriate), and we have taken extra precautions to minimize risks.
We continue to work with advice provided by the NSW Health Department in managing the risks associated with all notifiable health incidents, including the current concerns regarding COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus).
The risk of becoming unwell with COVID-19 without a history of international travel in the last 14 days remains low.
According to guidelines, it is appropriate to continue normal activities, including training, if:
1. You do not have any symptoms of fever, shortness of breath, cough or sore throat; AND
2. You have not travelled internationally in the past 14 days; AND
3. You have not been in direct contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
If you have not been in known contact with any of the above, you should feel confident to continue attending The Parramatta College and participating in your normal classes. This is of course, unless you have any of the flu-like symptoms, in which case, as with other viruses, you should visit your GP and remain at home until the symptoms have cleared. Call us ASAP if this occurs.

As an additional precaution:

• We have increased our already rigorous cleaning procedures; and staff are extra vigilant in ensuring proper hygiene practices are being followed.
• We will be providing hand sanitizer in most classrooms (Pending availability).
• We will be providing antibacterial wipes and sprays in most classrooms for use on equipment and surfaces (Pending availability).
If you have your own hand sanitizer, we recommend you bring that with you also for easy access.
Prevention is the key, so we recommend that all students employ the following safe hygiene practices:
• Wash your hands regularly with soap and water (or use hand sanitizer) in particular before and after eating, and after touching items such as doorknobs.
• Cover your cough and sneezes in your elbow,
• Dispose of tissues.
• If you are feeling unwell, please don’t take a risk. Stay at home or seek medical advice.
• Follow all local health guidelines.

The effective implementation of these procedures will require the support of all members of our Community, as it is beyond the capacity of any Centre to be able to police every instance. Please be alert (whether as carers, staff or students) to any presenting symptoms related to a fever or respiratory difficulties. These include a cough, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, a sore throat, or a runny nose. For further medical advice, please contact your GP or local emergency department or call the healthdirect helpline 1800 022 222.
We anticipate all normal classes and routines to proceed as scheduled; unless health authorities advise otherwise.
The Parramatta College will continue to keep our Community advised of further developments and follow the advice of NSW Health. Check our facebook page for updates.
Rest assured, for The Parramatta College, the health, safety and wellbeing of each person in our Community is our highest priority.
