About the Qualification

ACM30617 Certificate III in Pet Grooming is a Qualification for persons operating within an organisation that provides professional pet grooming services. A pet grooming attendant undertakes salon reception and housekeeping duties as well as bathing, brushing, trimming and other basic grooming services for domestic pets, usually dogs and in some cases cats. The duties require patience and a genuine empathy for animals, excellent customer service skills as well as high standards of cleanliness and professionalism. It is highly recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification, the individual has access to a workplace that provide pet grooming services through either paid employment or substantial periods of work placement or work experience blocks.

Assessment strategies

Assessments for this qualification include both formative and summative assessments and include online questions and answers, observation of workplace activities, portfolio of evidence, and third party report. Please note that you will need to submit photos and if applicable, videos of work that you have completed as part of the assessment requirements for this qualification. A supervisor’s report may not be sufficient as a evidence of your work.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you believe you have relevant skills and experience satisfying the competency requirement of this qualification, please consult with your trainer for the possibility of recognition. The trainer will provide you with a clear guideline on the RPL assessments and evidence requirements.

Final outcome

To receive the qualification, you will need to successfully complete all the required assessments. The assessor may ask you to provide further evidence if the first submission is found to be insufficient or non satisfactory. A Statement of Attainment will be issued if you have successfully completed one or more than one unit but not all the units.
