Upgrade your Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care to a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

This qualification is for students who have obtained a CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and are now seeking to work at a higher level in early childhood, usually running a room/area or participating in management procedures. Undertaking studies in this qualification provides the knowledge and skills necessary for all educators in early childhood education and care services who are responsible for planning, implementing and managing programs in accordance with approvals, quality rating systems and duty of care requirements. As well as attending the scheduled monthly face to face training students will be required to complete a minimum of 8 hours of self-home study, complete specific assessment activities in the workplace and a total of 240 hours of work placement must be demonstrated to form all assment requirements for this course. Attending First Aid training is required (HLTAID004 Provide and emergency fist aid response in an education and care setting) and a mandatory full day Saturday will be scheduled in Term 2 (date to be advised). Anyone in child-related work (including student placements and volunteers) MUST have a current Working with Children Check (student/volunteers free). Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is avaialble to enrolled students.
With the National Quality Framework regulating that at least 50 per cent of the educators in childcare centres must have or be working towards a diploma level qualification to meet the educator to child ratios (section 126 – centre-based services) employers are now shifting to employ people with a higher level qualification. Students who are successful in completing the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care are highly sort after and well respected within the industry.

Location: The Parramatta College, 410 Church St, North Parramatta NSW 2151
Day: Saturday once a month. Minimum of 8 hours per week of self-home study along with specific activities to be completed in the workplace to form part of assessment requirements will be required for this course. Evidence A total of 240 hours of work placement must be demonstrated.
Classroom hours: Saturday classes 9.00am – 3.30pm
Commencing: Saturday 10 June 2017
Finishing: Saturday 20 October 2018
