Design Icons of the 20th Century

Learn about design icons of the 20th Century. By the end of the day we will have discussed prominent names from both Australia and overseas. We will be focusing on different icons in the morning, then learning about others in the afternoon. From interiors, to furniture to fabric design we will be discussing their impact and how they still influence design today.

You can choose to do just the morning OR afternoon session OR enrol in both, a discount (see below) is offered if you enrol in both!

9.30am – 12.30pm Morning Session

Morning Session:
• Frank Lloyd Wright – US Architect/Furniture Designer (prolific influence)
• Eileen Gray – Furniture Designer/Irish but lived in France. Much of her work is replicated today
• Florence Broadhurst – Wallpaper & Textile Designer/Interior Decorator/Australian

1.30pm – 4.30pm Afternoon Session

Afternoon Session:
• Ray & Charles Eames – US furniture designers/Interiors/more replicated in today’s market (prolific influence)
• Grant Featherston – Furniture Designer/Decorator/British but considered Australian
• Lucienne & Robin Day – UK textile and furniture designers (residential & commercial) Both made a huge impact on life in 1950s/60’s.
