About this course

This course is designed for those who have limited or no experience using MS Word. This course will also help you with simple MS Word related activities that you do as part of your daily office admin responsibilities. You will learn to produce simple workplace documents using the basic features of Microsoft Word including formatting text, cutting, copying and pasting, headers and footers, page alignment and orientation, page set up, page numbers, margins, grammar and spell check, and paragraph formatting. This course has been aligned with BSBITU201 Produce simple word processed documents from BSB20115 Certificate II in Business. If you wish to gain a nationally recognized certificate, you will need to complete all required assessments during the course.

Prerequisite

Basic computer operations including keyboarding and mouse handling skills required.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, you should be able to -

Prepare to produce documents
1.1. Use safe work practices to ensure ergonomic , work organisation , energy and resource conservation requirements are addressed
1.2. Identify document purpose, audience and presentation requirements, and clarify with relevant personnel as required
1.3. Identify organisational and task requirements for document layout and design

Produce documents
2.1. Format document using appropriate software functions to adjust page layout to meet information requirements, in accordance with organisational style and presentation requirements
2.2. Use system features to identify and manipulate screen display options and controls
2.3. Use manuals, user documentation and online help to overcome problems with document presentation and production

Finalise documents
3.1. Ensure final document is previewed, checked , adjusted and printed in accordance with organisational and task requirements
3.2. Ensure document is prepared within designated time lines and organisational requirements
3.3. Name and store document in accordance with organisational requirements and exit application without information loss/damage

Learning strategies

This course will be delivered in a classroom environment led by a qualified and industry experienced training. Learning methods will include face to face lecture, case studies, demonstrations, questions and answers

Assessment strategies

Assessment for this course will include both summative and formative through written questions and answers, observations and practical demonstration of knowledge and skills
