The philosophy of law is called jurisprudence. Such philosophy asks questions like, why do we imprison criminals? Is our tax system fair? Does law support what is right or what is legal, and is there a difference? What role does civil rights/liberties have in a society? Can, and should, law encourage virtues, why/why not?
