Philosophy for the modern age

Is philosophy dead? We hear about Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, and the rest, yet it can all seem so long ago.
There are modern day philosophers who are discussing big issues, like artificial intelligence, feminism, climate change, global concerns, freedom of speech, but are they actually saying anything new or are they simply rephrasing the archetypal philosophies of old? Is what they say accessible by the average person, and should it be?
