TAESS00009 - Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set

About the course

This course focuses on the skills and knowledge a vocational trainer or assessor requires to identify language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skill requirements of training and the work environment, to access and use resources, support and instructional strategies that can be integrated into vocational training program.

Who is this for?

You may choose to do this course as part of your ongoing professional development; however it is specifically for those who deliver units from the current Foundation Skills training package. It is now a requirement that the trainers and assessors delivering units of competency from the Foundation Skills Training Package:

  • satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational education and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards, and
  • have sound knowledge of the ACSF and performance features of the ACSF level being assessed, and
  • have demonstrable expertise, knowledge and skills in the vocational contextualisation and assessment of the core skill, and have completed the following or equivalent:
* TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set; or * a higher level education qualification, such as: * TAE80113 Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice (and its equivalent TAE70111); or * Bachelor of Education, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Education, or higher. This may include qualifications relating to TESOL, adult education or vocational education.

TAELLN412 Access resources and support to address foundation skills in vocational practice
TAELLN413 Integrate foundation skills into vocational training delivery

Note: It is assumed that you already completed TAELLN411 as part of your TAE40110 upgrade, therefore this unit won’t be delivered in this program but will be credited from your previous credential.If you have the previous version of the unit e.g. TAELLN401A, you can credit transfer it for the current version at no extra cost. if you haven’t completed it, you will need to enrol into our TAELLN411 course separately by visiting this website: https://www.parramattacollege.com.au/course/LLNS.

Assessment strategies

Assessment will be conducted in both formative and summative way through the following strategies:

  • Participation in various activities; group activities, presentations, demonstrations, scenarios, practical, simulations and problem solving activities.
  • Participation in questionnaires/exercises for the module (pre, mid and post topic)

Skills must be demonstrated with real vocational learners, not fictitious students. Please note that significant work needs to be done outside of the course and in the context of your own employment environment. Candidates will be assessed on agreed tasks that demonstrate the aspects below:

On successful completion of all assessments, a statement of attainment for TAESS00009 – Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set will be issued from TAE Training Package. RPL is available if you can demonstrate required skills and knowledge through your current work experience or equivalent competency.
