Learn to expertly exfoliate the skin using advanced pre-set systems, enhancing your ability to provide safe and effective treatments for face and body.  Ideal for beauty therapists seeking to expand their services. This unit of competency describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to provide Micro-Dermabrasion Treatments using pre-set systems to exfoliate the skin of the body or face.

It requires the ability to establish priorities with the client, use knowledge of the effects of treatment on skin structure and design and provide a safe and effective treatment. Micro-Dermabrasion Treatments can be provided as an individual service or form part of a series of services.

This Nationally Accredited and recognised unit of competency applies to beauty therapists who work in beauty salons, clinics and spas.  In this environment they work in a team but exercise judgment in selecting and providing an appropriate treatment.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication

PRE-REQUISITE UNITS

• SHBBINF002 –  Maintain infection control standards
• SHBBSSC001 –  Incorporate knowledge of skin structure and functions into beauty therapy
• SHBBSSC002 – Incorporate knowledge of body structures and functions into beauty therapy

WHO SHOULD COMPLETE THE COURSE
Skin therapists with knowledge of skin biology and skill in providing skin therapies. They provide treatments in skin or beauty therapy clinics, salons and spas according to legislative requirements and organisational policies and procedures.

On completion of ALL assessment tasks to a competent standard you will receive a 

• Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment - SBH50121 Diploma of Beauty Therapy

• Theory and assessment via MOODLE online and 1 practical day face to face 
• Practical demonstration and tuition 6hr face to face in clinic or via live class
• Practical assessment undertaken face to face, simulated work environment, via live class or by arrangement
